The History of Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging

 

Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging, a family owned business began operations in 1995 as

Palmetto Packaging & Paper.  Owners Tom and Tim Wilson saw a need for a packaging supplier

that worked to solve its customer’s needs.  Special products, small lots, and specific application

products were the norm for Palmetto Packaging.

 

In 1998, H. B. Fuller approached the Palmetto Packaging & Paper about becoming a stocking

distributor in upstate South Carolina.  We realized that adding an adhesives to its line would

only make us a stronger company for the future.

 

By 2001, Palmetto Packaging & Paper was actually selling more adhesives than packaging products. 

This prompted us to change the name to: Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging.  The focus for success

now became adhesives, packaging and specialty tapes, and Hot Melt Systems.  Training was

greatly increased and the sales force was expanded.

 

In 2004, Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging earned the title of being one of the largest stocking

distributor of H.B. Fuller products in the nation.  We credit this success to listening to our

customers and matching needs to solutions.  We also believe that our close relationship with

H.B. Fuller and its local representatives have been key to this success.  During this year we also

grew our relationship with 3M, and added ITW Dynatec to our product line.

 

During the 4^th quarter of 2005 Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging made its most ambitious move

to date, into the world of water based adhesives manufacturing. Designing of its own line of

nearly 100 products.  This investment of over $500,000 in equipment and building improvements

provided us an opportunity to tackle complex adhesive quality needs and cost challenges.

 

Today, Palmetto Adhesives & Packaging continues to grow as a adhesives manufacturer with a strong emphasis on exceeding our customers needs. 

Plans are also in place to expand sales into several more states and continue to grow our own product line.
