ITW Dynatec Hot Melt System Hoses

 

Hot melt adhesive supply hoses are electrically-heated, flexible conduits designed for the transfer of hot-melt material from an adhesive supply unit (ASU) to an applicator (head or handgun). Hoses are heated by resistance heaters which are wrapped around the hose core and covered with a high-temperature insulation. Hose temperature is regulated by the ASU's controller. A sensor located in the hose provides temperature information to the controller.


GEMINI DYNACONTROL are 1000 psi (69 bar) hoses used to deliver hot-melt material from a Dynamelt or Dynamini ASU to an ITW Dynatec applicator (either a dispensing head or a hand-held applicator). These hoses provide through wiring for power, sensor and chassis ground in the applicator. All DynaControl hoses feature PT-111 RTD sensors.

Gemini hoses are equipped with an extra heater and RTD sensor and a switch assembly which allows the operator to switch the hose's operation between the two. This provides a backup to eliminate downtime and allows time to plan for eventual hose replacement

Gemini hoses are water-resistant, made so by their seamless flexible sleeving, sealed end cuffs and liquid-tight electrical conduit and fittings.

All Gemini™ Hoses incorporate dual heaters and dual temperature sensors along with a switching means to select between the first and second circuits.

Gemini™ hoses are available for Nordson equipment.

It takes about 45 minutes to replace a hot melt hose. The 45 minutes includes trouble shooting, obtaining the correct hose from the parts room, removing and replacing the hose and getting the system back up to operating temperature. If the line down time is $600 per minute then the costs to replace a hot-melt hose is $27,000.

If your company has replaced only 5 hoses annually that’s a $135,000 annual down time production penalty.

It's time to replace the Gemini™ adhesive hose with a new Gemini™ adhesive hose when the hose is switched to the secondary circuit. The hose has paid for itself and it’s time to install a new Gemini™ hose with secondary circuit insurance. If the hose isn’t replaced it’s just another hose without the dual circuit technology.
